She was a noob, he was a master.
The rift can be a very, very unforgiving place. Whether it be a fed AP Shaco support running teleport/ignite, or a completely overbuffed Ryze who just hit his mid-game powerspike with his Archangel’s Staff newly transformed into a Seraph’s Embrace, it’s good to have a partner. But good partners can be hard to find…
It started with a small, elite team of hardened, gruff veterans. Throughout those days we had one goal—win a single game of Clash. Not the whole tournament, but a single game. You see, Clash is where the hardest of the hard, the baddest of the bad, put their skills to the test in a tournament to win a cornucopia of prizes. With that in mind it was time to assemble a team, the A-Team of league of legends (the league of legends, if you will).
Well… due to personal schedules and other commitments, the A-team soon became the B-team, then the C-team… pretty soon we were scraping the bottom the the barrel. One of these players being Alexia. Now Alexia was a total noob, I’m talking CSing minions as support level noob. However… she had the heart of a master-tier challenger, if not the actual in-game ability.
And if things were truly desperate… they’d call in the big guns, Trent. Trent was a true master, countless hours invested, countless dollars spent. He was like The Avatar of League of Legends. He could fill in on any role and most likely not feed. The only problem was that he was also the bad boy of league of legends. Meaning that he had a bit of a wild side, and constantly pushed the envelope of what was possible on the rift.
On this day of Clash, the stars aligned. Having almost no one available, Alexia was called from the bench to cover the support role. And Trent being comfortable in all roles, filled bot.
And down there, in that bot lane, they made magic. Not enough magic to actually win a game of Clash, but enough to win a game in the losers bracket.
And they’re still making that magic to this day.
